I used the observations at Goodland, KS leading up to the tornado, which is 1 to 2 miles north of the tornado location on the eastern side of Goodland. The tornado occurred from 312-315 pm MST or 2212-2215 UTC. The 19-22 UTC observations at Goodland were 52F/51F, 57F/55F, 53F/50F, and 56F/49F, with strong east-southeast winds at 17-24 kts and falling surface pressure from 986 mb (863mb) to 977mb (854mb). I dont know why the T/Td jumped to 57F/55F at 20 UTC only to fall back down. I used the observation just prior to the tornado at 22 UTC (56F/49F). The 00 UTC raob at Dodge City showed 500mb temperature of -23C while the reanalysis at this time indicated -18C, so the reanalysis data were ignored. I estimate -1C/-20C for the 500mb/700mb temperatures. This yields -4.5/-6 lifted indices at 700/500mb.
