A techerage was demolished at Spade which was unoccupied(school not in session). Barns,chicken houses, windmills were "torn up". Telephone poles were downed near Anton. 12 miles north of Littlefield near Rocky Ford, 2 "colored people" were killed just outside their dugout home. They either frantically ran out, or were blown out and struck with killing force by some flying obstacle. Their 3 year old son was found in the remains of the dugout unhurt. A funeral was conducted by 2 colored preachers. A neayby home was knocked off its concrete foundation. Names were Allen and Sarah Green. A twister struck in the county at the A. W. Baxter farm house 3 miles north and 1 mile east of Spade. The tornado picked up their 2-room house "almost as it it were paper" and turned it over on one side, tore out the opposite side and denuded it of every piece of furniture, clothing and equipment. One of the children asleep in the house was in critical condition on the verge of death in the Payne-Shotwell hospital. Coleen(age11) suffered a deep skull gash and a bad cut over 1 eye. An older daughter suffered a hip fracture and is in serios condition. The father( A. W. Baxter had his teeth knocked out except for 1 and suffered a dislocated knee. Hazel Jane Baxter(age13) was hit on the side of the head with a brick but was not in serious condition. 3 other daughters(Melba(8), Mildred(11) and Mrs. Baxter suffered minor bruises and cuts. 2 babies were blown outside the house but were found. At the Austin Wiggins farm in the Rocky Ford community 12 miles north of Littlefield, Aleen and Sarah green were killed instantly. A tornado hit at 3 am Monday morning. Several barns were partly torn down or turned around. Fred Wilson's barn was completely blown away. The windmill on the Cliff Rogers farm was blown down. A house was partly torn away at the Weaver farm. 2 people were killed on the Wiggins farm and considerable damage was done to the buildings. Clothes were scattered all over the place.
