Heavy snow of six to 12 inches snapped trees, power lines, and caused extensive damage to immature crops. Snow amounts included McDonald 12 inches, Herndon and 8 NW St. Francis 10 inches, Dresden, Goodland, Rexford, and Oakley six inches. The snowfall was the heaviest on record for September and for so early in the season at Goodland. 
 
Heavy snow up to 10 inches snapped tree branches and power lines, and caused extensive damage to immature crops. Snow amounts included 10 inches at Joes and Idalia and 7 inches at Bonny Reservoir. 	 

Earliest snow on record across the area with two to three inches common. Lane County reported six inches. Measureable snow had never been recorded for so early in the fall (actually, late in the summer)
